Interactive musical performance

Video clip of University of Adelaide music students Lydia Sharrad on flute, playing at the University of South Australia’s Mawson Lakes Campus launch site, and Nicolas Storrie on clarinet, playing via the network at Flinders University some 40 km away.

The video was recorded at the official launch of SABRENet on 9th March 2007.

Nic and Lydia played Handel's Sonatina and Lacome's Passepied across two SABRENet fibre connections, each carrying uncompressed high-definition video (HD-SDI) at 1.4 gigabits-per-second.

You can download a video [148 Mb Quicktime download] showing both musicians playing simultaneously.

Alternatively, you can download two smaller clips:

The first clip shows  Nic playing at Flinders [18 Mb Quicktime download].  You can also see Lydia on the video projection.
The second clip shows  Lydia playing at Mawson Lakes [22 Mb Quicktime download].  You can hear but not see Nic in this clip.

Both clips have the same soundtrack - the live recording of their duet, with Nic in the left speaker and Lydia in the right.
For best results, download both clips and play them simultaneously, placing Nic on the left.
