SABRENet connects major new research imaging facility
The Minister for Science and Information Economy Hon Paul Caica today opened the Large Animal Research Imaging Facility (LARIF), a joint initiative of the IMVS, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia, and is an outcome of the Australian Government's National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). The LARIF construction project included a 6.5 km extension of SABRENet from Mawson lakes to the LARIF site at Gilles Plains. The new extension will provide high speed fibre links between the LARIF and the initiative partners, including a 1 Gbps connection to the IMVS main facility in the Adelaide CBD.
The extension also provides a link to the Gilles Plains TAFE college, and will form the basis for further expansion to research and education sites in Adelaide's north-eastern suburbs.
