Connecting TAFE Colleges

Since the launch of SABRENet, the South Australian Government has been steadily connecting larger TAFE colleges to the network. With the recent addition of Port Adelaide TAFE, the list off connected colleges now stands at:

Royal Institution of Australia (RiAus) connected to SABRENet

SABRENet Ltd welcomes RiAus to South Australia's research and education community - and as the latest to enjoy the benefits of SABRENet.
RiAus utilises SABRENet optical fibre connections to link its heritage-listed Science Exchange premises to AARNet, demonstrating that SABRENet can offer an effective solution for all technology-intensive organizations.

The mission of RiAus is to bring science to people and people to science. SABRENet  helps to make the connection.

SABRENet delivers high-speed broadband for defence research and training

The South Australian government has appointed SABRENet Ltd to extend its ultra-fast optical broadband network to Australia’s premier naval industry precinct, Techport Australia.

To be completed in mid 2009, the new extension will connect to the Maritime Skills Centre in the first instance, the first building completed within the Techport Australia precinct.

[Update - the project was successfully completed in late June 2009]

SABRENet connects major new research imaging facility

The Minister for Science and Information Economy Hon Paul Caica today opened the Large Animal  Research Imaging Facility (LARIF), a joint initiative of the IMVS, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia, and is an outcome of the Australian Government's National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).   The LARIF construction project included a 6.5 km extension of SABRENet  from Mawson lakes to the LARIF site at Gilles Plains.  The new extension will provide high speed fibre links

New SABRENet Director

SABRENet Ltd is delighted to announce the appointment of ICT industry veteran Bruce Linn as an independent director.

Bruce has a career-long involvement in the research and education (R&E) sector, from the earliest days of the internet services industry in Australia as CEO of successful University of Adelaide spin-off company Camtech. Bruce has also gained R&E experience as a current member of the Finance Committee and Council of UniSA and earlier in his career as a contractor to the Defence Science Technology Organisation (DSTO).

SABRENet Launch a milestone performance

Federal Education, Science and Training Minister the Hon Julie Bishop  today launched SABRENet at Mawson Lakes.

South Australian Premier Mike Rann  also spoke at the launch, highlighting the importance of SABRENet in the South Australian Government’s plan to make Adelaide a leading research and education destination for students and researchers from around the world.
